The region has seen human activity and settlement for nearly 8000 years. Which is just astonishing. In more recent times, its been mined for its uniquely sparkly pink and grey granite. This c. 1880 Scottish sword brooch, referred to as a Dirk, offers a lovely example of this high mica content granite. The whisper thin polished grey granite blade extends out of the pink
