Beach front home sells for $1.225 million in Albert Burney auction

WAVELAND, Miss. (Aug. 19, 2014) – A beach front home in Waveland, Miss., has sold at auction for $1,225,000, with Albert Burney Auctioneers marketing the property and managing the auction.

The auction drew 17 registered bidders, according to Warren Ward, president of the auction company.

“We were really pleased with the result of this auction in several respects. Vacation homes have been slow to bounce back as the economy has recovered, and this one had a good bit of deferred maintenance. Despite that, we got it sold at a price that pleased the seller, and it has closed successfully. A title company executive said this was the first house over $1 million they’ve closed in a year in the area,” said Ward.

Purchasing the home was an out-of-state buyer who plans to use it as a vacation home.

“We’re getting good results on a wide range of properties in a very broad range – throughout the United States as well as Mexico and the Caribbean. We’re currently preparing for the auction of a luxury estate in Panama, and we’ve just agreed to auction a large amount of farmland in Canada,” said Ward.
